Dr Roy Murray - Prior, Life Member
Roy Murray-Prior has been an active member of APEN since 1995. During this time, he has:
- assisted to organise the 1999 APEN Forum in Perth, the 2009 APEN International Conference in Busselton, the 2017 APEN – GFRAS International Conference in Ingham & Townsville, 2019 APEN Conference in Darwin, has attended most of the conferences and forums in-between and was on the APEN 2022 International Conference committee
- represented APEN in the Global Forum for Rural Advisory Services (GFRAS) (since 2000 until the present day)
- been chief editor of the Rural Extension and Innovation Systems journal, formerly the Extension Farming Systems Journal, since 2005, providing opportunity for extensionists to publish their work
- been an APEN Board member since 2017, becoming a Board Director in 2019 and has taken on the treasurer’s position in 2021.
Roy has his own business Agribiz RD&E Services and has worked in research, development and extension projects in India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Laos, Philippines, Indonesia, East Timor, Nigeria, Mozambique, PNG, South Africa and throughout the South Pacific nations. He is an experienced international and national researcher and extension specialist who can design, implement and evaluate development and extension programs to communicate key messages from research and build the human and social capital of communities to enhance, economic, social and environmental outcomes.
He was formerly Associate Professor in Farm Management and Agricultural Extension in the School of Management, Muresk Campus, Curtain University in Western Australia.
