Muhammad Sohail Mazhar, Board Appointed Director
Sohail is an agriculture value chain professional with over 18 years research, development and stakeholder engagement experience in Australia and overseas.
Sohail completed his Agriculture Science qualifications from Pakistan and earned a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Queensland, Australia. He graduated a Business Administration degree from the University of the People, United States. He is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Sohail believes in applied research and technology transfer that demonstrates impact for industry - best achieved through collaboration. Sohail’s work has made considerable contributions in achieving the food security, safety, and quality outcomes in developing as well as developed countries.
In Australia, Sohail has worked for the University of Queensland, Department of Agriculture and Fisheries of Queensland Government, and Department of Industry Tourism and Trade of the Northern Territory Government. Sohail is maintaining an Adjunct Professorial affiliation with Charles Darwin University, and has supervised research higher degree candidates at the University of Queensland, Central Queensland University, and Edith Cowan University. Overseas, Sohail has worked for CABI in Central and West Asia. Alongside, Sohail has completed a number of independent consultancies.
Currently, at the Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade of The Northern Territory Government, Sohail is contributing in achieving economic development of the Territory by developing, promoting, and facilitating its agricultural systems.
Sohail has joined APEN to practice his acquired - and continue to learn more through this network - knowledge and skills to contribute in improving the lives of the communities associated with agricultural systems in the Australasia and Pacific region.
