Callen is a consultant for AgSTAR Projects based in Coonabarabran NSW. Callen works on several extension and evaluation projects for government and Industry Research and Development Corporations. Callen is the national co-ordination for Meat and Livestock Australia’s Profitable Grazing Systems project. 

Prior to this role, Callen worked for NSW Local Land Services as an advisor working with broadacre copping and livestock producers and with the Northern Territory government as a Senior Extension Agronomist working on pasture improvement and cropping systems. Callen has also worked in the private sector, spending over 10 years as a commercial agronomist as well as operating a contract farming business.

Callen, his wife and their two young sons run a beef cattle operation in the foothills of the Warrumbungle Mountain Range. 

Callen is passionate about thriving rural communities and is the president of his local show committee and an active member of the local bush fire brigade.
