Session 3 | Wednesday 7 December | 1.30pm - 3.00pm AEDT
Facilitated by Denise Bewsell & John James – Effective use of online tools – the voices of experience!
Dr John James runs Enablers of Change and is passionate about enabling change and innovation and helping others to learn and build their capacity in this area. John particularly enjoys using online collaboration tools to complement face-to-face communication. He pioneered the use of webinars in agriculture to connect with a geographically distributed audience. John’s PhD was focused on the factors that affect the adoption of Web 2.0 technologies. One of his career highlights was launching the Enabling change and innovation webinar series back in 2012. He now runs a webinar coaching service from Hobart and so is just the right person to deliver ExtensionChat #3!
Denise Bewsell works for Scarlatti and loves chocolate – and wishes that Wonka TV was an actual thing so chocolate could be part of the online experience! She’s also passionate about wanting people to have the opportunity to grow their confidence in facilitating change. A lot of her online experience has been learnt while supporting facilitators and while sometimes Denise thinks it would be a good idea to practice before trying something new, often the best way to learn is just to give it a go! She’s excited to be involved with ExtensionChat #3!
Callen Thompson will also be supporting this session. Callen is a mixed farm advisor for Central West Local Land Services, providing crop and livestock producers with advice that enables them to make decisions that lead to positive social, environmental and financial outcomes. His background is in agronomy, spending 10 years in Coonabarabran providing producers with advice on cropping, fodder production and pasture management. More recently he worked for the Northern Territory Government based in Katherine as a senior extension agronomist. In this role, Callen was working with cattle producers to develop dryland and irrigated crop and improved pasture production systems. The focus was diversifying pastoral production enterprises by including hay, grain or pasture production.
We’re going to be talking about what we’ve tried, what’s worked and what hasn’t with a bit of learning from each other as well!
